LIIID-GATI is an incubator exclusively for early-stage nonprofits/ for profit ventures. Five times a year, we select a diverse set of ambitious individuals who are in their early days of imagining social impact ideas and have potential to achieve outsized impact, sustainably. We invest deeply in them for a period of 6 months with the help of Arizona State University, # 1 University of USA for Innovations, during which LIIID-GATI Partners work closely with the founders to get their ideas in the best possible shape – ready to fundraise, hire and scale. Alongside, we offer an innovation grant of USD 25000 after the Fellowship, a network of world-class mentors, and connections with people interested in their work, all aimed at getting them to the ready-to-scale stage rapidly.
This 2 Years Intensive, incisive and innovative study and work program in India and USA, that inspires professionals and entrepreneurs to be result oriented leaders through learning from the global educators and earning knowledge from doing. This program will run by Lead India, Lead India Foundation, supported by Give Globally Foundation, USA and the program are certified by top universities of USA as per the selection of the courses. In this fellowship we offer Social Innovations, Social Entrepreneurship, Development leadership, Non-Profit Management, and other entrepreneurship-oriented courses online from top universities like ASU Lodestar Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Innovation, USA, Stanford University, USA, University of British Columbia, Canada.
The magnitude and complexity of India's social challenges, with more than half of our country living in poverty even today, are massive. It requires our top talent and their problem-solving ability to create wildly scalable and innovative solutions for communities of poor and marginalized. And these talents need to be guided extraordinarily from their beginning.
AtLIIID-GATI, our purpose is to "nestle and nurture top talent to solve for India's biggest challenges", with an aim to kick start new-age nonprofits/ for profits with social innovation, collaboration, speed, scale and sustainability as the main motto. We will bring together top talent (challenging problems, awesome peer-group), resources to innovate, (grants, co-working office), environment (culture of innovation and collaboration), and direction & support (mentors, partners). Our goal is to jumpstart 500+ nonprofits and 5000 nonprofit leaders in 5 years.
We are serious on developing entrepreneurs or enhance the employment of all the fellows. Hence, we put more importance on both certification and the quality of the learning. We provide the fellowship-oriented courses directly from the concerned Universities or through the help of MOOC Platforms like Coursera, EdX, Khan Academy, Udacity, Future Learn etc. We also offer the courses from the open platforms of United Nations sister concerned organisations as per the requirement of the fellowship and the selection of the courses completely as per the decision of the Board Members of LIF and GGF. We select suitable courses for the fellows to educate, nurture and empower early-stage social ventures both for profit and not for profit, helping them scale up to deliver sustained impact to change the world for better as per the global goals to meet our aim to End Extreme Poverty by 2025.
LIIID-GATI is designed for the entrepreneur, not the organization. Hence the commitment and capability of the founder are the foremost basis for selection.
Founders are required to be committed to their idea full-time. They need to demonstrate an ability to build and grow organizations that will achieve meaningful impact through innovative models of change. We also look for alignment to our core values of scale, speed, innovation, collaboration and sustainable change.
We at Gati believe that each and every have the talent to innovate and is an asset of the society to change the society for better. Only the right person should be in the right place at the right time based on that we find the eligibility criteria of the fellows. We never select people form their capacity, age, or gender. We are looking for the people who are passionate and determined to bring change in the society for better. Accordingly, our eligibility criteria are:

We are sector and geography agnostic and open to any idea that solves problems faced by economically disadvantaged sections of society, in alignment with our purpose of poverty alleviation. Occasionally, we consider initiatives that are aimed at building the nonprofit /for profit ecosystem.
Thrice a year, we will have cohorts under the LIIID-GATI tech track, exclusively for technology based solutions solving for any problem in poverty. We will have at least one open cohort in a year, to include organizations that may not influence technology in a significant way.
We believe technology has the power to accelerate social development, as tech-enabled products and services can help scale ideas much faster and at an affordable rate. LIIID-GATI tech is our initiative to jumpstart nonprofits that leverage technology in their product, service or outreach, to bring much needed social change. This is not limited to nonprofits developing hardware or software products, but also includes nonprofits using technology developed by someone else. The ideas can be, but are not limited to, the areas of agriculture, education, health, livelihood, land and property rights and more.
If your idea leverages technology as a means to deliver impact at large scale through product, services and outreach, and you have been in existence for at least a year, you are eligible to apply for our LIIID-GATI tech.
Historically, while we have had a great response to our call for applications - we have not seen may applications in areas of poverty that are more obscure, and invisible to top talent looking to startup in the development sector. However, these undeserved areas such as land rights, affordable housing, etc. - have a deep impact on poverty alleviation. In order to diversify LIIID-GATI's areas of investment, in a manner that serves our purpose of poverty alleviation in a meaningful way, LIIID-GATI has empowered with lead India Network to find talent working in this area, and to accelerate their startup journey. The selection bar remains the same as from other areas, but our outreach is more intensive, to account for the lack of critical mass of new breed of startups in this space. We are therefore open for rolling applications, for organizations working in Land and Property rights.
The normal fees for the entire Fellowship programme is Rs. 5, 61,500*, including a contribution to the alumni fund that can be accessed by fellows who need funds after the completion of the programme. Yes, GATI is offered in partnership with #1 University of USA for Innovations: Arizona State University, Loadstar Centre for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Management. The six-month facilitated learning module is certified by ASU-NMI. Apart from that we engage our fellows in many other courses from top universities of USA like Stanford University, either with partnership, or with directly with a discounted fee. We also promote and provide certification from top universities the MOOC platforms.
With its unique design, curriculum and structure, GATI is a one-of-its kind programme in many ways. But there are two critical ways in which GATI is different from other academic institutions offering programmes in social entrepreneurship:
• Integration of education & incubation: Academic programmes offer classroom oriented training on entrepreneurship and incubation programmes provide on the ground support to build an enterprise from an idea. GATI integrates both into a programme that provides classroom training, experiential learning, practitioner interactions and also end-to-end incubation support, including seed funding, for setting up an enterprise.
• Space to incubate, innovate and implement: Most social entrepreneurship and incubation programmes expect you to have an innovative idea for a social enterprise as you enter the programme. But a lot of youngsters don't yet have an idea beyond wanting to do some good and benefit society. GATI gives such fellows the space to understand the challenges, develop an entrepreneurial solution, test and evolve the design and establish an enduring enterprise.
Applicants go through a four-step selection process: • Online Application • Online Entrance on General Aptitude • Telephonic Interview • One-day Assessment through Group Discussion
Any individual applying for GATI is preferred to be a graduate. Other than that, we are looking for people and not their resume. We are looking at what you have learned and experienced, rather than where. So if you are passionate about making a difference, have grit and persistence, and want take the road less taken, you are an attractive candidate for GATI.
As part of the application process, candidates need to provide two recommendations from people who they have worked or studied with.
